It's 1940.

England is in the midst of WWII.

Children are being evacuated to the country from the city.

A group have been evacuated to Eden Hill Manor, to stay with Mr and Mrs Hilshaw.

Eden Hill is a fairly large estate, with a farm.

It has many servants, plus workers on the farm.

The children must learn how to fit into life in the country. They must learn what is expected of them. They must know their place. They must stay on the good side of their adoptive parents.

THEY MUST NOT GO BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM - TO THEIR PARENTS.
